Former Sistar member Hyolyn is under fire for alleged iljin [bullying] activities.
Victim 'A' shared the bullying incident on an online community post on the 25th accusing Hyolyn of bullying her from the 3rd grade to 5th grade in Junior High. A said, "I was assaulted by Hyolyn at the school playground on a regular basis for all kinds of reasons. She took my clothes, cash, etc. There was a time she invited me to karaoke and hit me on the head several times."
Hyolyn's label Bridge released a statement on the 26th and said, "Hyolyn heard about the post online and she's checking the facts. She doesn't not remember as it was 15 years ago. She will also visit the person who is claiming to be the victim and we will do our best to resolve the issue."
Hyolyn then revealed that A didn't want to meet personally but instead wanted an apology via phone instead. Because of their opposite stance on the issue, the controversy grew even further in the online community due to the speculative comments and accusations against Hyolyn.
In the end Hyolyn and bridge released an official statement on the issue threatening legal action and said:
"We would like to share our additional stance regarding the rumors currently being spread about Hyolyn.
First, we feel regret that media outlets would not hesitate to report on such unconfirmed stories only after one individual who claims him/herself is a victim spread one-sided assertions online.
The original post which claimed that it contained evidence of Hyolyn's school bullying days, has now been deleted without any warning. We also feel great bitterness at this current situation, where things have blown up out of proportion due to one person's decision to post on a public community and cause all kinds of suspicions, controversies, and rumors to fester so easily among unnamed individuals; then, afterward, for the person to simply delete the original post, demanding an apology in return. With their unconfirmed, one-sided assertions, this individual has severely damaged the image and integrity of an artist with a career of over 10-years in the entertainment industry, also inflicting significant damage on Hyolyn's promotions.
Hyolyn has no intention to avoid these ongoing circumstances, and the label also feels that we must demand responsibility from the original poster for this unbearable humiliation and defamation of character. If they attempt to persuade the media in their favor even further simply due to the fact that our artist is a celebrity, we will respond all the more strongly with legal action. We once again apologize to those who care for Hyolyn for causing unwanted concerns."
'A' released another statement in the comment section of the article stating, "A few hours after the article was published, I received a direct message on SNS from Hyolyn asking for my contact information. I forwarded the information but it's been 6 hours and I've yet to hear from her. I tried to contact our middle school alum to share the contact info as well but now it seems like they've blocked my IP address."
There's interest in whether both sides can get to a mutual agreement as the controversy intensifies.
