Actor Kang Ji-hwan has been arrested on suspicions of sexual assault.
Gwangju Police in Gyeonggi province arrested the actor at 10:50 PM KST on the 9th on suspicions of r*ping two women.
Kang Ji-hwan is accused of sexual assault of two women 'A' and 'B' at his home after a company night out drinking with coworkers at a restaurant. He invited the women home for second round of drinks after the company party and allegedly went into the room where the women were sleeping and sexually assaulted them.
'A' sent a text message to a friend in Seoul at 9:41pm and said, "We drank alcohol at Kang Ji-hwan's house but now i'm trapped." The police officer who received a report from the friend was immediately dispatched to the actor's home and secured statements from 'A' and 'B' that they were sexually assaulted and molested by Kang Ji-hwan while sleeping.
During police investigation, Kang Ji-hwan said, "I remember drinking that night but have no memory after that. When I woke up, I was in the room 'A' was sleeping." At the time the actor was taken into custody he was drunk so the police are planning to call Kang Ji-hwan again in the morning for further investigations.
A police official stated, "We can't make any statements about the investigation right now because it's ongoing but we can confirm that Kang Ji-hwan has been arrested on suspicions of sexual assault."
His agency also released a statement and said, "We are currently trying to understand the situation ."
Kang Ji-hwan is current starring in TV Chosun drama series 'Joseon Survival.' There is concern that the drama will continue to be broadcast in a situation where the main actor has been arrested by police on suspicions of sexual assault.

A source from the drama said, "Filming for the drama is not complete. For now, we will have to wait to see what happens."
