The public's sentiment against Yang Hyun Suk, a former YG Executive, has reached a fever pitch.
Koreans have filed an official petition at the National Petition Website [Cheongwadae] asking for his arrest and punishment. Given that Yang Hyun Suk's artists have been well loved by the Korean community, this is a shocking development that shows the level of outrage against the allegations raised against the former producer.
Yang Hyun Suk is currently under suspicion of various illegal activities including prostitution, prostitution mediation, tax evasion, and now suspicions of illegal gambling overseas. According to reports, Yang Hyun Suk engaged in unregistered foreign exchange transactions 'hwanchigi' worth billions of dollars in Las Vegas and Macau hotels and casinos. 'Hwanchigi' is a deceptive transaction process that allows local funds to be "smuggled" out of the country to avoid reporting rules as stipulated in the Foreign Exchange Transaction Act'. It's a common process used by those who engage in money laundering or financing gambling activities overseas.
As a former YG Entertainment executive, Yang Hyun Suk has been a main player in advancing the "hallyu wave" overseas. Many young teens both domestic and international enjoy YG music and consider YG artists as role models. But due to the multitude of allegations against Yang Hyun Suk, YG Entertainment and it's artists, the public sentiment against Yang has turned negative.
Nowadays, most comments in online communities speculate that "Yang Hyun Suk has done everything but murder". Some even raised reasonable suspicions that "he's someone that at some point will "kill others."
So how can Koreans handle this sweeping social scandal marred with allegations of violence, gambling, prostitutes, drugs, and tax evasion? The prevailing public opinion is that moral and aggravated punishment should be imposed in addition to damages. Given that a majority of fans who consume YG music are teenagers and young fans in their 20s and 30s, it's only right that Yang Hyun Suk be held accountable for his criminal charges.
Koreans are also asking for compensation for the mental damage caused as well as damages for undermining the cultural integrity of the country.

- [+157, -5] Even if he hasn't killed someone yet, the fact that he's abused his power and ruined the lives of other singers and trainees is just as bad. He ruined the dreams of kids who only know how to do one thing ...isn't that basically murder?
- [+105, -0] I remember this one episode on Healing Camp where Yang Hyun Suk appeared and said he's never read a book in his life. I was so shocked...now seeing this situation...trapped in his own arrogance and greed..what a scary monster he's become..and you combine that with his greed for money...how can someone like this be respected as a father and husband??
- [+67, -2] He probably didn't commit the murder himself but hired others to do it for him...scary~
