Fans of actress Kim Sung Ryung have released a statement urging people to refrain from character assassinations following malicious rumors about "an actress being supported by her country."
This statement was prompted from a video posted earlier by a former entertainment reporter Kim Yong Ho under the title "Who is the actress supported by her country?". YouTuber Kim raised suspicions that Justice Minister nominee Cho Kuk sponsored a top star actress and that Cho's younger brother was behind it all.
Kim stated, "there's an actress 'A' who suffered a slump for a while but suddenly shot a lot of movies and CF's because of Cho's "help". The actress' ex-husband is a close friend of Cho's younger brother." Kim also said, "I hear the actress is divorced but not one single article has reported it. Even before the divorce the couple said they were not at peace."
An aide close to actress Kim Sung Ryung stated in an interview with Newsen, "Rumors of her involvement with politicians themselves are so random and out of the blue."
Regarding rumors of divorce the aide stated, "rumors of divorce raised on the TV show aren't true. I don't know what this is about but her marriage is continuing fine without any problems. Rumors of the divorce are groundless and are not worth responding to. Why are you trying to divide a happy family?"
After the allegations surfaced, Cho's preparation team for the confirmation hearing said, "The YouTube broadcast to the effect that a Justice Minister nominee sponsored the actress is totally groundless and we will quickly take all measures in civil and criminal terms."

Fans of actress Kim Sung Ryung who was embroiled in rumors that she was the actress in question posted a statement on an online community 'DC Inside' Kim Sung Ryung Gallery stating, "Kim Sung Ryung has always been someone faithful to her work as an actress and model. I sincerely appeal to you to refrain from defamation of character of actress Kim Sung Ryung."
In the meantime, Cho Kuk is currently under consideration for the position of Homeland Justice Minister.
