Daesung under investigation for tax evasion + fined 1.2 billion won

Big Bang's Daesung has been fined 1.2 billion won for the "illegal brothel activities" in his building.

According to a report by Channel A on the 20th, tax authorities recently sent a notice to Daesung to pay an additional 1.2 billion won in taxes after illicit activities were suspected in his building. This is because when Daesung acquired the building in 2017, he was levied taxes on the basis that the building will be occupied by "restaurant businesses" and not "entertainment establishments" thus evading additional tax liabilities.

Channel A also confirmed that Daesung borrowed 5.2 billion won from a lender using the building as collateral to purchase the building for 31 billion won in 2017. However, he recently put the building back on the market for 40 billion won and because he wasn't able to complete the sale within the bank loan period, he will need to repay the 5 billion won loan.

The Seoul National Tax Service has reportedly also opened an investigation into the individual owners of the "illegal brothels" in the building for tax evasion.

Police plan to summon Daesung soon to investigate whether he knew about the illegal operations and whether he helped the businesses continue with the illicit activities.
