Daegu hospital employee with coronavirus reportedly hid his identity as Shincheon-ji member

It's been belatedly revealed a hospital employee who was diagnosed with the first confirmed case at Moonseong Hospital in Nam-gu, Daegu was a Shincheon-ji member.

According to Moonseong Hospital on Thursday, Nam-gu Health Center informed the hospital that the first confirmed man, an outside parking official, was identified as member of Shincheon-ji church. The wife of another confirmed patient, identified only by her surname A, was also confirmed to be a member of Shincheonji.

The outside parking official was confirmed with Coronavirus on the 24th. At the time, when the hospital asked him about his route of infection, he only mentioned hair salons his wife frequented but hid the fact that he was a Shincheon-ji member.

After he was confirmed with Coronavirus, 12 other people (9 patients, 1 nurse assistant, 1 physical therapist, 1 caregiver) who were in close contact with him were also confirmed to have been infected. Health authorities have placed 27 people who have been in contact with hospitalized patients and officials under quarantine in the 8th and 9th floors of the building. At least 280 employees have also requested test kits.

46 people living in an apartment near Moonseong hospital where the city first quarantined patients have also been confirmed with Coronavirus. 94 out of 141 residents at that apartment complex have been identified as Shincheon-ji members.
