'The King' gained attention even before broadcast because of the reunion between writer Kim Eun Sook, Lee Min-ho and Kim Go Eun from the record setting drama 'Goblin.'
Attention is being focused on what viewership ratings the drama will show going forward.
Netizens shared mixed reactions in online communities writing,
[+1,974, -119] Lee Min-ho is a flower without scent and Kim Go Eun is not good enough to be lead..
[+1,805, -58] It's just not fun to watch. Lee Min-ho is still handsome but he hasn't grown out of his Go Jun pyo [BOF] and Kim Tan [The Heirs] days...just boring.
[+1,412, -66] Problem #1: Direction is a mess (no tense bgm and poor plot development). Problem #2: The cast (Lee Jeong-Jin, Jung Eun-chae, Woo Do-hwan, etc do not fit well within the cast). Problem #3: Acting (Lee Min-ho's speech is too reminiscent of Kim Tan and Kim Go Eun's Eun Tak...the other supporting actors aren't pulling their weight in their roles either. The biggest problem #4: I know I'll keep watching just because of Lee Min Ho's face-.-;;
[+187, -5] The World of the Married is just so much more interesting...
[+146, -0] Writer Kim Eun Sook's charm is her playfulness with words, but she got rid of that and put a lot of effort on cool visuals and building views. I mean it's cool she's got the Emperor on a white horse but that stuff doesn't work well these days..ㅠㅠ.
[+98, -9] It's just boring. First off, the casting of the leading actress was just wrong.
[+82, -7] Both of them are just terrible actors. Especially Kim Go Eun..
