Netizens are criticizing BTS Jungkook for not personally apologizing for Itaewon controversy.
Netizens speculated that Jungkook was the 'X Man' of the group stating that "one loach is enough to break the ark's shell". In essence, netizens are stating that it only takes one moment to collapse the group and Jung Kook's many controversies are causing a "dark mark" for BTS.
Many netizens are pointing out that the "artist himself" did not apologize in person even though he was the "front man" that shared a message of support to the public regarding social distancing through BTS' official account. Many are criticizing him for cheering and encouraging social distancing in public while doing the opposite in the back.
In addition, Jung Kook's behavior after concert schedule was canceled due to the Corona is also causing more disappointment to fans.
Netizens revisited Jung Kook's prior controversies including his dating rumors and traffic violation accident in December 6th last year after hitting a taxi while turning left after violating traffic signals near Hannam, Yongsan-gu, Seoul around 4am on October 31st. At the time, a police official explained that "Jungkook settled with the victim but his case was forwarded to prosecution because he violated Traffic law."
Since Jungkook is a popular member of BTS, his growing controversies are all the more regrettable. After it was revealed that he visited Itaewon during social distancing period, a public petition titled "Recall the Order of Cultural Merit of BTS Jeon Jungkook" was posted on Blue House website on the 18th asking for his medal to be revoked.
Some are arguing that "yes he did wrong but the public criticism is too strong" however, there's a saying that "popularity is a double-edged sword." Netizens are arguing that the more powerful you become, the more strict your moral standards be.
- [+2,915, -93] I hope he properly apologizes to his hyungs, fans, and medical staff and deeply reflects on himself
- [+2,828, -137] For ARMY shielding him right now, please take lessons from what happened to Big Bang. Big Bang used to be on top of the world but refused to apologize and admit they did wrong after making reckless mistakes. They hid behind their blind fans who shielded them and now they're rotting away and have crumbled into a has-been.
- [+2,552, -342] Jung Kook is being Jung Kook but ARMY fanclub shielding him aren't any better
- [+260, -5] It's because his fans are coddling him too much
- [+247, -7] These four are going to end up like Jung Joon Young, Park Yoochun and Big Bang in the future if the fans keep shielding them. When Jung Kook got charged with violating the Traffic Act fans kept saying he only illegally parked and s*** on everyone like crazy when they criticized him over it. Then the Itaewon mess happened and a fan even faked a handwritten letter and started yelling everywhere saying it isn't a sin to eat in Itaewon. Jackson's bar is just like a club. It's not the same thing. If you're going to shield JungKook then shield Kara Gyuri too for going to a gay club there. We need to hold celebrities accountable when they do wrong so that they can clean up and do better. Stop doing things that make people call ARMY psycho brainless fangirl b****es
- [+239, -18] Jung Kook is quite stubborn. Do you think he'll really listen to his hyungs? I can see all the greed and stubbornness written all over his face. I hope he's the first to enlist.
- [+215, -9] He's the only one making noise with his many scandals
- [+188, -25] First the tattoo thing then the back hug...how is that normal?
- [+146, -12] He doesn't care to reflect. What do you expect his hyungs to do? He's probably thinking "so what". I bet he'll be the only one that won't write a handwritten letter ㅋㅋ He's lucky his hyungs are still treating him like a human being even after all this..
- [+97, -8] I knew we'd see an article like this someday. Are you happy after tainting your beloved hyungs image like this?
