Red Velvet's Irene (29, real name Bae Joo-hyun) has admitted and apologized for abusing her stylist and fashion editor A on the 22nd.
Irene posted on her Instagram that day and stated, "I'm sincerely sorry for hurting the stylist with my foolish attitude and careless words and actions. I will think and act more carefully to prevent this from happening in the future."
In the meantime, earlier on the 20th, A revealed on her Instagram that "she had been struck by a celebrity." A wrote, "I had an experience where I was thoroughly stepped on by someone at the position of 'eul' [authority]. It was a hell-like 20 minutes in an unfamiliar room with words that cut like a knife. This celebrity pointed at my face while standing in a chair with cell phone in hand."
A did not reveal who the celebrity in question was but added the a hashtag using Red Velvet's song 'Psycho' and 'Monster' at the end of her post. As a result, netizens speculated that the celebrity in question was Irene.
SM released a statement and revealed that Irene met the stylist in person that afternoon and apologized.
- [+2,615, -26] So a stylist needs to have a recording device, personal carrier, and peer support in order to survive and get a huge agency like SM to bow down to them. Irene must've been on quite a high horse for the director from her recent movie and other staff to come forward and leave comments on her Instagram like that.
- [+2,004, -18] This is a comment on Instagram from staff from Irene's movie, "I recently filmed a movie with a friend who is famous for being pretty. I've been here for a long time, and I've seen a lot of actors, but she's more than I can imagine. I thought maybe the movie set was uncomfortable for her, but she was just that type of person... she acted like she was so shy and sensitive but I felt so sorry for her maknae manager she was with. She needs to stick with what she's good at. Don't bother others with your lacking skills. All of us staff said...this is going to explode. She had it coming.."
- [+1,448, -12] "I came here to see if you're doing a job." "holding onto the hair of a staff member who was helping her put on her shoes...to find her balance." This is from the second Instagram post by the editor that exposed her.
- [+1,285, -11] It's not that she's immature, it's just that she lacks basic respect for company staff. Even staff from her movie said they didn't like her. If you read the comments, they're all saying "she had it coming", "She's been like that". Makes you wonder how terrible she really was. That "Gapjil" tag is going to follow her forever ㅋ.
- [+875, -21] Wow...look at that pathetic apologyㅋㅋ
- [+717, -4] What kind of life has she lived that there's no one else around her other than her crazy stupid fan girls shielding her? How is it that that everyone in the industry is joining hands and pouring out their support to expose her? How bad was she that they're rushing with an apology like this? Guys, live your life straight. It's all going to come out someday. Take care of those around you. This is not a world where you can live selfishly.
- [+611, -3] Was the transcript that great? How bad was she for her to release an apology so quickly like this? ㅋㅋㅋㅋ. Her personality must be bottom level. She must've been the devil.
- [+561, -3] Even with the apology, doesn't change the fact that the stylist is a victim. How do you expect her to continue working at SM. She's the one who's going to lose everything for exposing her because she has less power. She's someone that has been in the industry for over 15 years so I'm sure she knew the consequences when she decided to expose her. She must've had enough of her antics to come forward like this.
