On July 21, Moon appointed BTS as special cultural envoys and officially awarded the appointment letter at the Blue House on the 14th. The 7 members and Big Hit CEO Shin Young-jae attended the event and during the ceremony, Moon made eye contact with the members and awarded them with red diplomatic passports and commemorative fountain pens along with a letter of appointment.
BTS is the first K-Pop group to be appointed as an official special envoy for the Korean government.
Meanwhile, Moon also asked BTS to attend the UN General Assembly in New York to be held on the 20th and give a speech about his Sustainable Development Goals and present video performances.
