YouTuber Song Ji-ah (Freesia) is embroiled in further controversy.
On the 24th, media discovered a past vlog on her Bilibili channel from August 2020. In the 7 min and 46 sec video, Freesia is seen taking a Chinese class and eating and says, "I'm going to eat steamed Kimchi like this when I get home." That scene in the video is then captioned as "Pao Cai," a salted vegetable in Sichuan, China similar to a pickle.
Netizens that saw the video reacted with anger writing, "Kimchi is a Korean food. This is an even more serious controversy than her faking wearing luxury clothing."
In another video captured on Bilibili, Freesia is seen stating, "Chinese cosmetics pick up color well. This is China after all. I like China."
China is currently causing controversy over claims that Kimchi, a Korean traditional food, has its origins in Chinese 'Pao Cai'. The Chinese government is forcing labeling of Kimchi-related products sold locally as Pao Cai. In July last year, The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism revised its guidelines and changed the Chinese translation and transcription of Kimchi to 'Shinchi' (辛奇), and Pao Cai as Kimchi. Regarding the revisions, the Ministry stated, "Kimchi, our native food, has been translated into China pickled food, Pao Cai."
Meanwhile, Freesia is currently embroiled in controversy over wearing fake luxury clothing. On the 17th, she shared a handwritten apology on her IG writing, "There is controversy over clothes I wore. I want to apologize for infringing on the creative works of designers through my ignorance of copyright. All the faked content has been deleted."
- [+7,945, -27] Ah, she's a disgrace to our country!
- [+3,888, -16] She's free to like China all she wants but why does she have to label our Kimchi as Pao Cai?! F***
- [+2,220, -20] Such a pathetic attention seeker with empty brains. Why would anyone see her and think she's a decent person. Networks that keep putting her on broadcasts are problematic too.
- [+1,044, -17] What a sh**ty pathetic b*tch!
- [+920, -13] Why do media keep posting articles about a choding like her that has faked her entire existence?
- [+353, -3] Stop watching her trash of a YouTube channel! Let's boycott her and make sure she gets exiled out of the industry.
- [+287, -2] So it wasn't only the luxury clothing she faked? She really had the audacity to touch our Kimchi? If she loves China so much and wants to make money, just move there.
- [+189, -1] So her main goal was to enter China from the beginning...from her fake Chinese luxury clothing to 'Shinchi' ~ aigoo
- [+183, -0] She should join hands with Ham So-won and live in their favorite China for the rest of their lives!! Don't ever come to Korea!!!
- [+124, -0] This is why the Chinese keep doing this. Because trash like her keep saying they "like China" they make it seem like Koreans acknowledge Pao Cai as Kimchi. Stop shaming our country and get naturalized in your communist China.
- [+104, -1] Are we sure she's Korean..?
- [+88, -4] No...she's crossed the line now. Stop with the shield!! If she likes Pao Cai so much she can move to China and buy it there.
