IU has clarified misunderstandings over alleged "fan discrimination" controversy.
On the 4th, her agency Edam Entertainment posted a notice on her fan café stating, "while monitoring fan opinions regarding IU's documentary that was announced today, we came across points that could be misleading and would like to clarify the true facts."
"We decided to prepare a documentary of IU's twenties with the self-composed album 'Sculpture Book' and prepare a meaningful gift to Uaena (fanclub). To do this, we held a lot of meetings with IU until recently and concluded filming. We're currently in process of post-production. As a result of checking the facts, we confirmed that the documentary writer contacted fans and conducted interviews at his own discretion to investigate the data necessary for the pre-meeting to select the production company. The writer left the project before making the documentary and the collected content was not included."
"The documentary production team, including ours, were not in a situation where we would've receiving any information related to this in advance. We sincerely apologize to fans who may have been worried about this misunderstanding. We will do our best to produce a good result so that the sincere stories of IU can be conveyed to fans through the documentary."
Meanwhile, IU was embroiled in controversy over fan discrimination after it became known that her production team solicited promotion opinions from her most famous fans and conducted interviews.
