Former Big Bang member Seungri's 'Burning Sun' crimes are continuing to surface.
On the 27th, the High Military Court held an appeals hearing for Seungri and reduced his 3 yr prison sentence from the first trial to one year and six months. Seungri who had initially denied all the charges calmly admitted to all 9 'Burning Sun' charges in court and expressed his intention to reflect.
His previous text messages saying "I f***ing love Korean law" are catching attention after his reduced sentence. No matter how many crimes he committed, he received an infinitely light sentence compared to the weight of his crimes causing controversy. It appears he was confident he would not be punished because he knew the laws were a "comedy" that's why he ridiculed the public's power.
Among his 'Burning Sun' crimes, Seungri repeatedly arranged prostitution for investors in Taiwan, Japan, and Hongkong from December 2015 to January 2016 to attract investments for his clubs and embezzled more than 528 million won in Burning Sun funds. He also illegally gambled over 2.2 billion won overseas including 'hwanchigi' violations for receiving a 1 million won loan in chips to gamble.
At the end of December 2015, he argued with a customer while drinking with acquaintances at a bar in Gangnam-gu and mobilized gangsters through actress Park Hanbyul's husband and former Yuri Holdings CEO Yoo in-seok to assault the customer in a back alley.
In particular, it was revealed that there were several crimes related to Burning Sun. Customers that visited Burning Sun were found to have smoked marijuana and 3 Burning Sun employees were also indicted for selling marijuana.
There were also sex crimes using GHB and marijuana. It was revealed that Seungri and other Burning Sun associates and clients who paid a large sum of money raped women by spiking drinks with GHB. As a result of investigations, Burning Sun CEO Lee Mun-ho was arrested and indicted on charges of violating Narcotics Act and sentenced to one year in prison.
Six police officers that did not properly handle the reports of women sexually assaulted in the Burning Sun VIP room were also reprimanded.
Revisiting the Burning Sun CCTV, it's possible to guess exactly what happened at the club. A security guard at the club grabs a woman by her hair and drags her away. The woman seems drunk on something as she tries to grab onto the desk asking not to be dragged away. However, no staff helped.
It's hard to understand how Seungri, who committed and admitted to such charges, received a sentence that's shorter than Big Bang's four-year hiatus. Seungri repeatedly denied all charges and sinned fearlessly with corrupt police officers who "closed their eyes while receiving bribes."
It's difficult to believe he really regretted his sins and "reflected" on himself because he's the same Seungri that said the laws were a "comedy." Of course, he would "love Korean law" seeing as his crimes received such a light sentence.
