BTS has been unsuccessful is winning a Grammy.

The 64th Grammy Awards, America's most prestigious awards ceremony, was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on the 4th at 9:00am KST.

BTS, who had been nominated for an award for the second year in a row, was nominated for 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance' with their English song 'Butter' however failed to overcome the Grammy wall. Last year, they were nominated for 'Dynamite' but failed to win the award.

BTS competed against prominent overseas pop stars such as Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Benny Blanco, Coldplay, and Doja Cat who took home the award.

However, criticism is pouring out once again calling the Grammy's "conservative." In 2017, Adele, a white British singer, defeated Beyoncé taking home 3 of 4 main awards causing anger. 'The Weeknd' was also previously not nominated for any category and announced boycott stating "he would no longer submit music to the Grammys."

Due to this and BTS failing to secure an award for the 2nd time, Grammys are being criticized again for still being too "white centric" and not keeping up with the industry.

Bae Cheol-soo, who hosted the live broadcast of the Grammys in Korea stated, "I don't represent the Grammys but I apologize on behalf of those that have hosted the awards for a long time. Just think of the Grammys as just an American awards ceremony."

  1. [+335, -5] They don't care enough to give them an award even if they deserve it but yet they keep using them... 'Butter' was everywhere all over their CFs and lineups but they keep taking them for fools. If these ba$tards don't want to give them an award then BTS should stop going, Grammy's aren't everything.
  2. [+89, -9] I changed the channel after seeing SZA's vulgar acceptance speech. Bae Cheol-soo is right. This is just an American awards ceremony.
  3. [+79, -3] No, does it make sense not to give them one? They dragged the ceremony into parts and put them at the end to increase their viewership ratings but still won't acknowledge them. The comments are right. They don't acknowledge our country. BTS achievements alone are proof no?
  4. [+70, -2] So why keep inviting them? They just want to make money using BTS but don't want to give them an award.. f*ck.
  5. [+38, -2] Just Grammys being Grammys... they only care about eating well among themselves.
  6. [+11, -2] Back then, I used to think Grammys were so prestigious but these days, they seem to be basically an American MAMA? I hope BTS stops trying to gain recognition using English songs and release a Korean album instead... isn't BTS a Kpop group anyway?
  7. [+7, -0] They don't care to give them an award because they just want to use BTS to fish for views and increase their ratings!!
  8. [+5, -1] Can they please not go next year even if they get invited by the Grammys? We need to boycott their racism.
  9. [+4, -0] Its clear they only see them as a tool they can use to advertise their awards that's why put their performance towards the end..
  10. [+2, -0] Just another low level award ceremony... they only care about giving awards to their whites..boycott is the only answer.
