A lawyer B has come forward refuting HYBE's claims that Kim Garam was the victim.
On the 20th, HYBE stated in an official statement that "A (victim student) was a bully that uploaded illegal molka pictures of Garam's friend D and Garam took the stand on behalf of the friend at the committee that resulted in dismissal of the case."
However, according victim A (Yoo Eun-seo)'s lawyer Daeryun, "the school violence committee held in June 2018, Kim Garam was punished as the assailant and perpetrator of bullying and received 6 hours of special education in accordance with Article 17, Paragraph 1, No. 5 of the School Violence Prevention and Countermeasures Act due to the intensity of the violence and her parents also had to take 5 hours of special education in accordance with Article 16, Paragraph 1 of the same Act. The victim A, also received protection measures such as psychological counseling and advice."
With regards to this, an alleged lawyer B who participated in the 'School Violence Committee' tweeted on the 19th, "If A had only experienced a simple assault, this would've been dealt with under the 1st and 3rd paragraphs in the article but it's shocking that the 5th measures was taken. It amazing that even after being punished under the 5th action, she was selected as an idol trainee."
"Also, netizens have revealed testimony in online communities and exposed her bully past that led to her being sent to school violence committee so it's clear Garam's actions went beyond simple abuse."
With regards to this, an official from the Ministry of Education stated, "With regards to the school violence committee, its true there was a violent crime where Kim Garam was named the perpetrator. The intensity of measures taken by each school are different because each case has a strong autonomous nature and tendencies of experts in attendance is also different."
