Hwang Hana's relative and Namyang Dairy founder's grandson A has been arrested for drugs.
According to legal sources on the 2nd, the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office's Shin Jun-ho arrested and indicted Hong Mo (40) on the 15th of last month on charges of possession and habitual abuse of marijuana. Hong was indicted for habitual drug use and accused of supplying to others including close acquaintances and international students.
A large number of wealthy family children, including third generation kids of other chaebol companies are on the line of investigation. Many of the people who received and smoked marijuana from Hong included the third generation of the family of the head of chaebol companies such as company H.
At least 10 chaebol kids are on the line of the prosecution's investigation.
Hong's first trial will be held on the 23rd of this month at the Seoul Central District Court. Attorney Jeon Seung-so who is in charge of Hong's case also investigated and prosecuted hip hop singer Bumkey and others for drug use while serving at the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors office. He also investigated drug allegations of the son-in-law of Saenuri Party leader Kim Moo-sung.
An official from Namyang Dairy drew the line stating, "Although he's the grandson of Honorary Chairman Hong Doo-young, he has never been involved in the management of Namyang Dairy."
The prosecution is expanding it's investigation network as they believe there may be more drug charges against third generation chaebol families that have yet to be revealed. Many also believe the scale of judicial processing may increase to double digits depending on the progress of the investigation. The prosecution plans to speed up investigations and conclude the case in the middle of this month. Hong is preparing for his first trial by appointing former prosecution attorney with extensive drug investigation experience.
Namyang Dairy stirred up controversy after it was revealed the founder's granddaughter Hwang Hana had injected meth. At the time, Namyang Dairy drew the line stating "her and the company had nothing to do with each other." Hwang Hana's birth mother divorced 10 years ago and it's known that there is no interaction with her mother's family.
Meanwhile, Hwang Hana is currently recuperating in Jeju after serving 1 year prison sentence for injecting meth with ex-lover Park Yoo-chun from 2015-2018 and violating her probation with drugs.
