MBC's "child molestation" controversy is growing bigger and bigger.
On the 19th, following a controversial clip was aired on 'Marriage Hell' where a stepfather "molested" his 7 year old stepdaughter in the 'Go Stop Couple' episode, complaints are continuing to pour out.
During the episode, after watching the clip, Dr. Oh Eun-young pointed out, "There are children who have a particularly sensitive sense of touch. Those kids hate kissing very much."
After the broadcast, accusations poured out that the stepfather's actions were sexual abuse and viewers criticized the program for airing a child getting molested and left messages on MBC's official bulletin board asking for the program to be abolished.
As the controversy continued, MBC deleted the scene in question from its replay service on the 20th.
However, related complaints continued to the Broadcasting Standards Commission.
The Jeonbuk Iksan Police Station, where the child lives, received several reports of child molestation. A police official revealed, "The Women's Youth Team received a case related to 'Marriage Hell."
Concerns are pouring out that the case cannot be resolved through broadcasting alone and require investigation by the police.
As controversy grew, the production team of 'Marriage Hell' released an official statement. They stated, "We deeply apologize to all those were concerned about the couple's daughter after watching the 'Go Stop Couple' episode. The PD team should've conveyed its position to viewers immediately after the controversy but after the broadcast we needed to understand the situation and organize the contents before releasing our position. We ask for your understanding that the video had to be edited first to prevent it from being reprocessed and distributed contrary to the production team's intention and hurting the family involved."
The PD team added, "The wife reported her husband to police for child abuse and the husband could not accept the wife's behavior so the conflict is deep. So the PD team closely observed the life of the family and analyzed the experts opinion. We wanted to provide practical help by providing solutions on who and how they should change. After receiving criticism on the program following the broadcast, we agree there is no excuse. Once again, we want to apologize for causing concern to many people without thinking about it from the child's point of view."
"Our PD team and Dr. Oh Eun-young will continue to support this family and the child's problems even after the broadcast. With the possibility that the child may have psychological difficulties, we plan to provide professional exams and therapeutic help with Dr. Eun-young. Dr. Eun-young specifically pointed out her husband's behavior throughout filming that lasted for about 5 hours and very resolutely criticized and urged change. It's also the PD Team's negligence for giving a warm impression over their actions. From now on, we'll pay close attention so that the atmosphere at actual filming site can be fully conveyed to the viewers."
However, despite the production team's apology, requests to abolish the program continue. How will the police investigation of the 'Marriage Hell' case proceed?

She kept shouting "help me" and at the clothing store he stubbornly refused saying "I'm not your dad?" in case someone wanted to go to the changing room with her.
