Justice Minister Cho Kuk's eldest daughter, Cho Min, is causing controversy in Korea.
Cho Min recently opened an IG to share her daily life. On the 14th of last month, she posted a picture of herself with a short caption writing, "Hello, it's Cho Min" and has since shared several posts about her daily life such as photos of her pet cat, home cooked meals prepared by her paternal grandmother, and photos camping in Daebu Island.
On the 28th of last month, she posted a photo of a cake with candles with the caption, "New Year 2023 with the family" as well as a picture from her childhood captioned "1994.10."
She was also discovered following several accounts from BTS Jimin, Justin Bieber and former US President Barack Obama. She currently follows a total of 102 accounts and has over 33,000 followers.
Previously on the 3rd, the Seoul Central District Court sentenced her father and former Justice Minister Cho Kuk to 2 years in prison and an additional fine of 6 million won for corruptions over entrance exams for his children and for ignoring former Busan City Mayor Yoo Jae-soo's authority. He was not arrested in court due to no fear of destroying evidence or escaping.
Cho Min stated, "Until the trial concludes, I will travel, go to restaurants, go to SNS, and do normal things like everyone else. I will not hide anymore."
Regarding her father's arrest, she stated, "I couldn't sleep at all because I worried about him as head of the family. I worried a lot about the arrest."
Regarding her mother, former Dongyang University professor Jung Kyung-shin who was also in prison, she stated, "It was really hard. I think it wouldn't have happened if my father hadn't served as minister."
She added, "There are so many people who told me to go abroad and start over. In fact, there are people I'm really grateful for that offered to help. I don't want to run way. I'm going to stand proud. Sometimes it's hard because of the media but I'll live well in Korea in my own way."
Regarding the possibility of losing her doctor's license she stated, "If that happens, I think it's too unfair but even then, I can become a doctor again, I have the willpower. I'm confident enough to be happy even if I'm not a doctor anymore. For me, a medical license was a means to contribute to society, not a goal. There are more and more things I want to do now."
