The possibility that BLACKPINK Lisa will leave YG has increased.
Prior to contract expirations in August, Lisa has been discussing whether to renew her contract with YG however they're not able to come to an agreement. YG side is hoping for a "dramatic settlement" before the expiration date however the differences between the two sides is said to be "quite large."
The possibility that Lisa's contract with YG could not be renewed was first raised through a Chinese source. The Chinese agency, which requested anonymity, told Munhwa Ilbo on the 11th, "We have been coordinating YG and Lisa's schedules to see if they will appear on the show but they recently told us that it's difficult to discuss the schedule after August because contract renewals with Lisa are unclear."
On the 12th, YG responded to Munhwa Ilbo's request to confirm the facts saying, "It's because of the tour and personal schedule, it has nothing to do with renewals."
Although they did not give a clear stance on renewing the contract, it can be seen that they acknowledged it as a fact that they arranged Lisa's schedule with the Chinese side recently.
According to an industry insider, contract renewals with the other 3 members are proceeding relatively smoothly. The insider revealed, "We narrowed the gap with each other and decided to accompany them after renewing the contract."
It's expected that the direction of Blackpink's future activities will be decided after the official announcement of whether or not they've renewed contracts. If Lisa does not renew contracts with YG, it will inevitably have a great impact on the group's direction in the future.
