In an effort to destroy evidence, it's been revealed hospital staff deleted records.
According to a report by Channel A on the 17th, the medical staff at the Bundang Cha Hospital in Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province deleted medical records involving the accidental death of a newborn that was born at their hospital.
At that time, the resident doctor slipped and fell while holding the newborn. The baby was treated immediately but unfortunately died 6 hours later. It appears there was a skull fracture and bleeding marks on the baby's brain ultrasound picture however the medical staff did not inform the parents.
Kim Jaehwa, the Bundang Cha Hospital Director released an official statement on the 16th and said, "First, I deeply apologize to the mother and family of the newborn baby. At that time, the medical team, the chief physician and deputy chairman exchanged text messages to discuss the issue. The chief physician suggested that they remove the skull fracture medical records and the deputy chairman reportedly approved it. The hospital administrator then completed the record deletion."
Police have obtained the text messages sent and received by the medical staff through a search and seizure and are currently investigating the contents.
