TS Entertainment has terminated its contract with Song Ji Eun.
According to an official statement by the label, Song Ji Eun breached their contract terms by signing with a new agency in January 2019 when her contract with TS Entertainment was still valid. As such, this is a clear breach of contract.
TS Entertainment has requested mediation form the Korea Entertainment Management Association (KEMA) regarding the 'double' contract violation and are requesting arbitration, conciliation, compensation and more.
Below is the official statement from TS:
"Hello, this is TS Entertainment.
We will give our official position regarding our exclusive contract with Song Ji Eun.
In a situation where Song Ji Eun's exclusive contract has not yet expired, she unilaterally informed us of a contract termination with proof of contents around May 2017. She then signed a new contract with another agency in January 2019 when her contract with TS Entertainment was still legally valid. We have requested mediation from the Korea Entertainment Management Association (KEMA) Korea Employment Promotion committee regarding the contract violation and we're requesting arbitration, conciliation, compensation and more.
From our standpoint, we feel that it's unfortunate that her new agency ignored industry precedents regarding prior notification before signing a new contract with an artists who's contract is still valid with a prior agency. We are currently considering other legal measures.
TS Entertainment has determined that we can no longer honor our contract with Song Ji Eun who ignored the contractual relationship and have terminated the contract. We plan to enter arbitration to seek remedies from Song Ji Eun for breach of contract as well damages for company losses and defamation.
Thank you to all those that have loved and looked after our artists. We promise to put in an effort with active promotions for our company artists.
Thank you. "
