Actress Han Ji Sun's agency has released a statement regarding the assault controversy.
On May 23rd, Channel A 'News A' released an interview with a taxi driver 'A' who shared that actress Han Ji Sun had climbed into the passenger seat of his taxi drunk, cursed and slapped him in the face and hit his head with a thermos. At the police station, Ji-sun reportedly continued to be violent even assaulting the police officer that escorted her to the station by kicking his leg and biting him in the arm.
Police fined the actress 5 million won because it was her first time offense and because she reportedly "deeply reflected" on her actions. According to taxi driver A, Han Ji-sun had yet to apologize to him for her actions.
Han Ji Sun's agency J-Wide has issued a statement in response to the allegations from the 'Channel A' report on the 23rd saying:
"Hello, this is J-Wide Company.
First of all, we’d like to sincerely apologize for causing concern due to the bad things being said about actress Han Ji Sun.
We found out this fact a while ago when we asked for confirmation of the facts from the media's side and we were able to confirm the fact that Han Ji Sun had an argument with a taxi driver during police investigation.
As reported, she has fulfilled the legal responsibilities currently assigned to her and will also carry out the remaining legal responsibilities. Han Ji Sun admits to her mistakes without any excuse and is deeply repentant.
In this regard, we will be careful with our words and actions to avoid any further controversy in society. As a management company, we also acknowledge, reflect deeply, and feel responsible for our failure to manage more thoroughly.
We feel the need for improvement internally to prevent this from happening again and we promise to work with all the company’s executives and employees to make the utmost effort. Once again, we bow our heads and offer our sincere apology to everyone."
