Korea is mourning the death of veteran actress Jeon Mi Sun (50).
According to reports, the actress was found dead in a hotel room in Gosa-dong, Jeonju, North Jeolla Province at 11:43am KST on the 29th. The manager called the police when he couldn't reach the actress. An official from the Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters told Daily Sports, "At the time of discovery, Jeon Mi Sun was numb, unconscious and wasn't breathing after a cardiac arrest. The electrocardiogram also showed no contractions. She was pronounced dead soon afterwards."
According to police, no suicide note was found in the guest room and there were no signs of other intrusions reported. It appears that the late actress committed suicide by hanging.
Her label Boas Entertainment released a statement on the 29th and stated, "We come with unfortunate news. Actress Jeon Mi Sun has passed away at the age of 50 (Korean age). She had been receiving treatment for depression. However, we're here with sad news today. We ask for your condolences, and we ask media to refrain from reporting on unconfirmed rumors and speculation out of respect for her family, who are in shock and grieving. The deceased's mortuary has not been set up yet. We will inform you later on as it it is ready."
Jeon Mi Sun made her debut as actress in 1989 with KBS drama "Toji (Land)". Since then she has appeared in various dramas and among her popular works are dramas like "The Moon Embracing the Sun", "Five Fingers", "King of Baking: Kim Tak Gu", "Reply 1988", "Hwang Jini", "Andante" and more. She recently appeared in tvN's "He is Psychometric" as character "Jo Eunjoo".
