The father of a popular idol group member, identified only by his family name "Heo" is being sued for 600 million won for fraud.
According to a report by TV Chosun on the 2nd, the dad approached the victim saying that the was a relative of a chaebol president. But when the contract was revealed to be counterfeit, he denied the fraud.
Last May, Mr. Kim who runs a gas business got to know "Mr. Heo". Mr. Heo told Kim for 600 million won (~$570,000) , he would be able to obtain business rights to a construction site in Sangju, North Gyeongsang Province and Cheonan, in South Chungcheong province. Mr. Heo asked Kim for the 600 million won in two occasions as a deposit and for other expenses.
The plaintiff, Mr. Kim revealed a recording of a phone call conversation he had with Mr. Heo who claimed in the call that "he was relatives with chaebol group GS chairman" In the phone call, Mr. Kim is also heard bragging that "his son is a member of a popular group."
When he reached out to the GS conglomerate officials, they said, "the documents were forged because they don't anything about the alleged "Mr. Heo". When Mr. Kim realized he was about to lose hundreds of millions of won, he sued Mr Heo for fraud. But Mr. Heo denied that it was a scam and tried to return the money.
The police questioned Mr. Kim and Heo on June 24th and plan to forward the case to prosecution within this week.
