'Channel A' is reporting of a controversial katalk chatroom involving proxy drivers.
According to the report, an insider, a proxy driver of a ride-sharing service Tada in Korea is sparking controversy with his testimony about secretly filmed recordings of female passengers.
According to the insider, there is a Katalk (Kakao Talk) chat room where 70 proxy drivers share information about their female passengers. In a message seen on the chatroom, a proxy driver asks about the female passenger's appearance and the driver uploads a voice recording file. The file is a secret recording of a conversation the driver had with the female passenger in the vehicle. The driver is heard saying, "if you're not feeling well, don't worry and let me know in advance" and the female passenger replies, "yes I will." A few seconds later, sexual comments about the woman from her voice, appearance, height, and much more begin pouring out of control in the chatroom. The driver, seeing that the response is good, shares another longer recording file.
The insider also revealed that the drivers share more than just female passenger information. They share about pr*stitutes as well as secretly filmed recordings of passers-by.
'A' an acting engineer stated, "since Kakao opened, it's become a hotbed of crime. It's being used as a place to spread crimes."
One Korean citizen said, "I'm anxious. It's so outrageous that I'm thinking I don't want to use the service anymore. It's so disturbing to think that your personal information is being shared by someone."
In the meantime, there are about 130,000 registered proxy drivers using Kakao Talk's 'Kakao Mobility' service for ride-share services. Kakao has stated that they're investigating drivers who are using the services illegally and are working on measures to prevent future crimes.
