A slew of Chinese idols have come out publicly to support China's side in the Hong Kong protests.

Idol members from the Greater China region including GOT7's Jackson, f(x)'s Victoria, Lai Guan Lin, Kyulkyung, Seventeen's The8 an Jun, as well as (G)-IDLE's Yuqi and more recently posted on their Weibo profiles and stated, "There are 1.4 billion flag bearers and I'm one of them. I support the 'one China policy.' Hong Kong should be ashamed."

In particular, Lai Guanlin and Jackson are attracting attention for their support of the "one china" policy as they were born in Taiwan and Hong Kong, respectively.

Lai Guan Lin released a statement though his Chinese agency on the 13th canceling his concert in Hong Kong due to the ongoing anti-Chinese protests.

Hong Kong citizens are protesting the "Repatriation Act" proposed by the Hong Kong government where if enacted, the bill would allow local authorities to detain and extradite criminals who are wanted in territories that Hong Kong doesn't have extradition agreements with, including mainland China and Taiwan. Some fear that the bill would place Hong Kong natives and visitors under the mainland Chinese jurisdiction, undermining the principle of  'one china, two systems' and that it would take away their rights.

The scale of the protests in Hong Kong is growing and has taken over Hong Kong International Airport several days ago affecting other countries. **Large scale K-POP award shows like the '2019 MAMA' has opted out of holding the event in Hong Kong this year for the first time in years due to the ongoing protests**.

Many fans and netizens are apprehensive about Chinese idols support of China at this time causing controversy.
