Sung Hyun-ah shed tears as she recalled the hard times after prostitution scandal.
The actress made an appearance on SBS Entertainment program "Did You Eat?" on the 21st and stated, "I didn't want to undergo trial again but I did it because I felt that it was unfair. Even though I won the appeal, I think it's easier for people to remember the scandal than my innocence. I thought they would believe me after the trial."
She continued, "Even after I was found innocent, it didn't feel good. I was at the mall with my son on the stroller when I received the phone call that I was found innocent. For three years I thought all was lost. But through it all I tried hard to continue on for the sake of my son. I had made a lot of money throughout my long career in the entertainment industry but all I had left to my name was 7 million won deposit. I couldn't fathom it. I just sat on the street and cried. I didn't think life could be so hard. "
"There was a time when it was so hot at the house because we had no fan or air conditioning. My son was sleeping at the time and a close friend gave me two fans. I was so happy," she stated as Kim Soo Mi held her hands tight as she wept.
Sung Hyun-ah was accused of prostitution after reports that she engaged in sexual relations with a private businessman 3 times in 2010 in exchange for 50 million won (~$43,000). She was also accused of engaging in escort activity in 2013. She appealed the verdict in 2014 and the case was tried in Supreme Court. The Supreme Court dismissed the case stating that there was a possibility she met the businessman with honest intentions and as a result, she was found not guilty.
