Seungri (Lee Seung-hyun,30), has been brought to trial for allegedly arranging prostitution and gambling over 1 billion won overseas.
On the 30th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office indicted the former Big Bang member without detention on charges of habitual gambling, violation of the Foreign Exchange Transaction Act and violation of the Sex Trade Punishment Law.
Seungri is suspected of arranging several sex trafficking cases between December 2015 and January 2016 for a group of Taiwanese, Japanese and Hong Kong businessmen. He is also suspected of having made a sex purchase himself. It was also found that he embezzled about 528 million won from Club Burning Sun in the name of the brand's fees at the M outlet located in southern Seoul, and misappropriated about 22 million won from M in as personal lawyer fees.
The indictment also included several gambling sessions with former YG Entertainment producer Yang Hyun Suk (50), at hotels and casinos in Las Vegas for about three and a half years from December 2013. The prosecution added that through further investigation, they discovered that Seungri did not report in advance borrowing gambling funds in U.S dollars while gambling with Yang Hyun Suk overseas.
Seungri was at a crossroads in May last year and January this year, but has been under investigation without detention as the court rejected his arrest warrants both times.
