Police have arrested two middle school students for sexually assaulting another student.
Judge Kim Byung Kook of the Incheon District Court approved the arrest warrant on the afternoon of the 9th stating, "I know they're minors but we have no choice but to arrest them."
On December 23, two male students A & B (15), cornered a female student from their school C (15) at an apartment gym in Incheon and dragged her through the stairs to the apartment's rooftop and gang r*ped her. They targeted her because she was close friends with another junior that A and others reportedly harassed.
Police launched an investigation with their parents present (due to them being minors) and DNA analysis confirmed that A and B sexually assaulted her. On January 3rd, the school suspended A&B for 3 days causing criticism that that the punishment was too low. Due to growing criticism, the school decided to transfer A & B to another middle school in Incheon instead.
C's brother submitted a petition to the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education stating that "the school tried to cover the up incident." Her mother also posted a petition on Blue House website and wrote, "Those ba$tards r*ped my daughter and said they were going to kill her that day. They punched her in the face several times and played rock-paper-scissors to figure out who was going to r*pe her first."
As of the 9th KST, the petition had been signed by 342,000 people.
