Actor that played role of victim in digital sex crime film has been sentenced to one year in prison.
On the 7th, Judge Lee Joon-min of the Seoul Central District Court sentenced A to one year in prison and two years probation. She was also ordered to complete 200 hours of community service and one year probation.
Judge Lee stated that "he found A and B guilty of the crime but explained that considering the fact that A confessed to his crime, the victim's photos were not circulated, the photos posted by B were deleted in minutes and neither had prior criminal history," he made the decision to give them a one year sentence.
The film production company also addressed reports writing, "We apologize for inconveniencing our viewers with a message in our movie that contrary to a situation involving one of the cast members. The producers do not agree with the actor's actions. In order to minimize damage to the staff and actors we are taking action, identifying and simultaneously editing parts in the film involving the actor in question. At the time of production and editing of the film we were not aware of these allegations as filming was completed before the incident. We cannot comment on the actor's choice to apply for leave from his agency under guise of "corona crisis" as this is a personal issue."
Earlier, actor A was accused of secretly filming nude photos of the victim. The girlfriend B also threatened to leak the footage to an open chat room on social media. In particular, the public's anger grew hot after it was revealed that he appeared in a movie about tracing sex crimes on SNS and played the role of victim in the film.
If A and B file an appeal against the ruling, the ruling will be handed over to the second trial. In the meantime, the public is angry that the sentence given is too low and attention is being focused on whether they'll file an appeal.
