Police have filed an arrest warrant for Jung (57) that threw a shoe at President Moon.

On the 16th, Jung threw shoes at President Moon in front of the entrance to the second floor of the National Assembly's main building during the opening ceremony of the 21st National Assembly. The shoes he threw landed next to President Moon within several meters.

Yeongdeungpo police arrested Jung and filed an arrest warrant on the 17th stating that "the matter was very serious." The Seoul Southern District Court will hold an interrogation of the suspect at 2pm on the 19th to determine whether an arrest warrant is necessary.

Jung stated, "I threw shoes at President Moon because he makes people feel shameful because of his calls of fake peace. He's ruining our economy."

Jung stated he was not a member of any group but he's known to be Jung Mo's father, a candidate for the Republican Party in the 21st National Assembly election.

The actual examination of the warrant was conducted at 2 pm on the 19th by Judge Kim Jin-cheol and lasted two hours. Jung's arrest will be decided late in the afternoon.

  1. [+2,617, -167] If someone in his 50s can be arrested so easily like this means our country has gone back to pre-1987. Democracy is dead!
  2. [+1,091, -38] Arrested for throwing shoes at the president??? Is the President a god?? If its really a matter worth detaining someone shouldn't you train your security guards better first?
  3. [+328, -11] Release him back to his home!
  4. [+251, -5] You need to understand the meaning behind why he threw the shoe in the first place. Does Moon really understand or feel the pain behind why he did it?
  5. [+194, -0] When are you going to arrest Yoon Mi-hyang?
  6. [+65, -2] What's important isn't the act of throwing shoes but the reason why it was thrown. He doesn't understand it and that's why our country is in this state.
  7. [+54, -2] It was just a shoe and it fell meters away...is it really worthy of an arrest? Are we a dictatorship now?
  8. [+11, -0] How is what he did any different than a son fighting for his country? If they really arrest him we need to launch a campaign to oust the judiciary. The judiciary in our country is rotten!
