Prosecutors have demanded the death penalty for Choi Shin-jong (31), who killed two women.

They stressed the need to isolate him from society citing his attitude from his latest crime and stated the possibility that he might kill again. Choi is charged with raping his wife's acquaintance, a 34yr old Jeonju woman at around midnight on April 15th, stealing 480,000 won from her, killing and dumping her body near a stream. He's also suspected of killing a 29yr old Busan woman that he met through a mobile chat app on the 19th of the same month and dumping her body in a field.

In final hearing held at 12th Criminal Department of Jeonju District Court Tuesday, prosecutors stated, "The defendant is making excuses and rationalizing his actions. If he had apologized to the victims at least once his heart would not be this heavy. He has a poor attitude and killed, abandoned, raped and robbed his victims and therefore needs to be isolated from society. He needs to be put to death."

Prosecutors also asked the court to attach an anklet on Choi for location tracking. They also revealed Choi's statements during investigations when he was first questioned stating that Choi insulted the victims and asked for a 20 year sentence.

In response, Choi stared at the prosecutor and raised his voice stating, "when did I want 20 years?? I never asked or did anything to warrant 20 years. I only asked them to block the disclosure of my personal information. How can a person that killed two people receive 20 years? Even If I was to protest like this they would've thought I was a psychopath and wouldn't believe anything I say."

In the meantime, Choi's sentencing hearing will be held at 2pm on May 5th.

  1. [+1,930, -11] What's the point of a death penalty without a death~what a joke!
  2. [+1,390, -14] The next president will probably choose someone that revives the death penalty but only as a pledge. What a load a sh**.
  3. [+642, -13] Wow death penalty!! Don't just hit him with it! Sentence and execute him!!
  4. [+447, -33] Only the U.S and Japan actually execute someone on death row. Korea has nothing to show. We don't do it at all out of fear that former military presidents will be executed. How is he a human being. Hurry up and execute him!
  5. [+396, -8] If we don't kill him, he'll be released in December and many more victims are going to suffer and lose their lives. What are you going to do then??!
  6. [+65, -1] So what on earth are you going to do with him if you don't execute him? These are human rights we're talking about. It's not like you can release him to go out to work, how is he going to afford his meals? Put him in jail? Then what? We can't afford to put him in jail forever and on the other hand the victims will live in pain for the rest of their lives. Once the sentence is confirmed, he needs to be executed immediately! Show them how scary the law is.
  7. [+63, -0] What do you want? For the victims to beg for their lives? You're afraid of your personal information being released? Then you shouldn't have done those shameless things. This is nothing compared to the blood and tears of the victims and their families.
  8. [+40, -0] I agree. Disclose the identities of the ex-convicts too.
  9. [+35, -0] He's really trying to block the disclosure of his personal information when he killed someone?? So shamelessㅈㄴ
  10. [+35, -1] Ah ~ an execution is going to be hard to get. But he needs to feel the pain of the victims  as their breaths left their bodies through an extremely painful execution so that he can realize his mistakes. Our laws are too weak on rape and murder.
