Netizens are in deep anger about the conclusion of "Burning Sun Gate" without any indictments.
On October 28th, Judge Park Soo-hyun of the Seoul Western District Court held a second hearing for Yang Hyun Suk's gambling charges where the former YG Entertainment CEO is suspected of gambling $335,460 with acquaintances at a Las Vegas Casino between July 2015 and January 2019.
In the final trial,, prosecutors demanded 10 million won fine for Yang Hyun Suk who stated, "I'm sorry for causing concern because of my carelessness. I sincerely reflected on this matter. I will never repeat the same mistake again, " he stated lowering his head. His final sentence hearing is scheduled for Nov 27th and Yang Hyun Suk has appealed for leniency in the decision-making hearing calling his guilt " a mistake."
The starting point for his court appearances was "Burning Sun Gate" that began in January last year with allegations of drug abuse, sexual assault and prostitution. Yang Hyun Suk was suspected of providing sexual services to foreigners, habitually gambling, and paying bribes to police to cover up iKON B.I's alleged drug purchase. In the end, the prosecution cleared him of the charges due to "lack of evidence."
As for Big Bang's Seungri, his arrest warrant for 12 counts of prostitution was rejected last year but the trial is currently underway at the General Military Court of the Ground Operations Command. He appeared in court in first trial on Sept 16th where his lawyer blamed Yoo In-seok, former Yuri Holdings CEO, who had earlier admitted to arranging prostitution stating, "The defendant [Seungri] had no motive for arranging prostitution."
It appears that Burning Sun Gate that caused a huge stir in the entertainment industry will end after 2 years without any charges for Yang Hyun Suk or Seungri leaving a bitter aftertaste.
