You have to break through Melon 24 hits. How are you supposed to break through dead waters?
You have to sell half a million copies to be considered successful.
MV has to get at least 100 million views otherwise its nothing.
You have to share lots of content through many mediums to communicate with fans so you have a lot of minor schedules to manage on top of everything else.
If an idol group loses popularity or disbands, the attention if focused on the hoobaes even though the sunbaes' popularity follows them to the army.
Since idols have more schedules on YouTube than TV, their schedules are much tighter. In the time they would've taken to shoot one variety previously has been taken up with many YouTube shows now.
On every stage there's individual fan cams, side fan cams, full cameras, ceiling fan cams etc. They still have to dance really hard on top of singing live.
It's really hard to be an idol these days.
- [+144, -4] That's why idol groups from large entertainment agencies are sweeping all the top charts. From the minute they debut, they get so many foreign fans from everywhere overseas so their income ratio from YouTube views is on a different level
- [+125, -2] They also earn so much money..
- [+99, -0] But Kpop has grown so much compared to before too so the gains from overseas are huge. For example, if you have a strong fandom and your YouTube views are high etc. the amount of money you can earn from overseas is crazy.
- [+55, -3] There's just no place for idols on broadcasts anymore. Just look at Juyeon, Chu...ã…‹ã…‹. It's the first time they're making an appearance on varieties after debut and they're getting so much hate already. Malicious hate comments about them are seriously through the roof
- [+33, -0] The standards are seriously too highㄹㅇ. Do you think getting 100 million views is f***ing easy?
- [+15, -0] I think its because of Produce...everything got ruined once that show came out
- [+11, -1] That's true yes, but why worry about idols. The average person still makes way less money and our lives are much harder than theirsã…‹ã…‹
