Goo Hye Sun has retorted to criticism over her art work from professionals in the industry.

The Boys Over Flowers actress posted a photo on her IG with the caption, "An interview that a mere human Goo Hye Sun wants to show you."

In the interview, Goo Hye Sun was asked, "Is there anything you'd like to say to those who oppose your entry into the art world as a celebrity artist?"

She replied, "Art is something thats neither predictive nor logical. Art makes people feel equal in the end because it is a philosophy of human time, that is "life and death." I'm just living as a human and drawing pictures. Being a celebrity has nothing to do with painting and doing art. I don't care if there's opposition from the art world, we just need to go on our separate paths."

When asked what art means to her, Goo Hye Sun stated, "Painting and art aren't huge things to me. It's just a hobby. Something I do to pass time."

Meanwhile, Writer Lee Hong-dae appeared on a podcast and evaluated celebrity art work. When asked about Goo Hye Sun she stated, "She's an actress, film director and writer but when I see her art, she just can't do it right. My personal wish is she just sticks to being an actress. Her art work is like a side hobby of an art student at Hongik University."

  1. [+7,252, -592] Does she need permission from an art critic to make art? Don't worry about their words and just create what you want...
  2. [+3,223, -156] There's no rule that says you need to go to art school to create art. Can this critic even draw?? She's an example of a system borne from Silla Dynasty..
  3. [+1,943, -82] She's 1000x better than artists who depend on ghost artists or ghost writers...
  4. [+1,518, -79] She's right. Art is subjective and is about what you feel. Just look at it as it is. Who do these critics think they are to put her down like this?
  5. [+630, -112] No one is saying she shouldn't do art, it's more-so criticism about celebrities using their status to charge exorbitant prices that don't match the quality of the art work. This, in turn, lowers the morale of professional artists. Is their art work really worth millions of won? Even critics think their art work isn't up to par because it's obvious they're only in it for the money. Art? Don't make me laugh.
  6. [+541, -112] The problem is that celebrities are just cosplaying as artists based on their celebrity fame and not their skills...
  7. [+73, -5] Does she need to go to Hongdae Art University to do art? It's because of people like her that our country is stuck in the past. Art is just a way to express one's thoughts. Is there a rule that says art has to look a certain way?
  8. [+71, -4] But if you look at art work from "real" artists, it's just a lot of bizarre things..
