Hwang Hana broke down in sobs upon hearing demand for prison sentence.
Hwang Hana attended court for her drug use and theft charges during probation and the prosecution demanded a 2.5 year prison sentence and 500,000 won fine stating, "Hwang Hana abused meth 5 times even though she had received a pardon with probation at the court. She keeps denying her crimes passing the responsibility to her deceased husband and not reflecting."
Her lawyer pleaded with the prosecution stating, "There is not enough evidence to prove the allegations brought forth. As for the theft, the investigation agency did not confirm whether the object the victim claimed is something she actually owned. There were provocative reports in the media at the time that unreasonably linked her to the sudden death of her husband, the suicide of a friend and the 'Vatican Kingdom' drug dealer scandal. She received so much hatred because her image was bad."
In her final remarks, Hwang Hana broke down in tears and stated, "I miss my dead husband. It's true there are sad parts about my life but I'm sincerely sorry and apologetic. I want to be someone that lives proudly to my acquaintances and family."
She then began sobbing hysterically that she couldn't read the rest of prepared remarks and was escorted out of the courtroom in sobs.
Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 9th.
