SM has declined to comment on reports that SM Executive Lee Soo-man gifted his girlfriend a villa.
On the 21st, media outlet reported that Lee Soo-man (69), gifted 59.42 pyeong apartment in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam to a female reporter A (50s) in March 2021. Lee Soo Man bought the apartment in 2015 for 3.97 billion won and a similar unit was sold in May for 4.9 billion won.
According to the report, A is a Korean foreign correspondent in North America who's 17 years younger than Lee Soo-man. She was introduced as a "beautiful reporter" on air and has been running an SM sponsored industry forum for 2 years.
In response, SM stated, "It has nothing to do with company business. We cannot confirm."
- [+3,889, -97] What's the issue with a widower dating and wanting to get married...or are people worried some kkotbaem will scam him out of his money? It's not like there are legal issues with this. He's 70 and successful so let him live his life as he wants. I get he's in the entertainment industry but what does that have to do with this?
- [+1,707, -36] Compared to men that date women for a year and never gift anything, this is quite gentlemanly of him.
- [+875, -15] Huh? Lee Soo-man is 70? He's a lot older than I thought.
- [+866, -18] So he gifted his lover a villa. Why is this written like he was giving bribes to a reporter..?
- [+851, -27] Nothing wrong with dating after your wife passes away. If he wants to gift her a villa, he can do that 🤔🤔
- [+162, -2] I thought this was an affair at first but that's his girlfriend? Why not write that in title?
- [+38, -0] They've been dating for a long time so why shouldn't he gift her something.
- [+22, -0] Well, it's not like he can take it with him when he dies...he's 70 and bought it with his own money. He's happily dating so why not gift it to her.
