Yang Hyun Suk's atrocities have been exposed for the first time in 5 years.
After CL revealed the secret behind 2NE1's disbandment through an interview with AP Entertainment on the 16th, her statements are gaining attention.
The group officially disbanded in November 2016 and at the time, YG stated, "Minzy parted ways with YG in April and after long discussions with the rest of the members, we made a decision to officially disband 2NE1." Since 2NE1 had been YG's representative group for so long, they expressed "regret" but had decided "it would be unreasonable to continue activities as a group. Instead they wanted to focus on the members solo schedules."
However, that statement was lies. Contrary to YG's position that they discussed with the members, CL and Minzy testified that they "learned through a media article" that the group was disbanding.
Usually when deciding whether to continue or disband a group, normal agencies make a decision and formalize it after closely consulting with the members since they're the parties involved. However, YG forcibly disbanded the group 5 years ago without prior notice. They even circulated an official press release without consulting the members, even the leader CL.
Looking back at YG's official position at the time of Minzy's departure in April 2016, our shock is doubled. YG announced "they failed to renew contract with Minzy after she made the decision to leave the group and the rest of the members were in deep confusion whether 2NE1 would disband because of her withdrawal." However, "they decided to renew with the other 3 members" expressing "strong will to continue with the group" saying "they wanted to protect 2NE1 until the end even if it would be difficult and asked to work together to overcome the difficult times." But afterwards, the group did not have any official activities or comebacks as a 3-member group.
This is absurd and disrespectful to the artists who had been with them for 7 years and to the fans who had supported and loved them for so long. Even considering the fact that Park Bom was suspended from arrest for smuggling 82 tablets of an illegal drug from the US in 2010, YG let the scandal grow and only announced the decision in 2014. They knew the group's activities would realistically be difficult due to Bom's scandal but they never once consulted with the members.
At that time, the final decision maker was Yang Hyun Suk, who recently stepped down from his position as representative producer due to a series of unsavory controversies such as billion-dollar gambling expedition overseas. The fact that he oversaw all of YG and never once gave even the least amount of courtesy to the members has been proven once again.
Not only that, but Yang Hyun Suk has been indicted and is fighting charges in court over claims of a cover up of a drug scandal involving former iKON member and leader B.I (Kim Han-bin).
