Big Bang's T.O.P's rumored "space trip" is causing controversy.

On the 9th, DearMoon Project posted on their homepage and revealed that T.O.P will be included in their mission to the moon in 2023 sponsored by Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa.

DearMoon wrote, "8 passengers will take a space trip around the moon in a SpaceX spacecraft. In addition to T.O.P, American DJ and Producer Steve Aoki, American YouTuber Tim Todd, Czech choreographer Yemi AD, Irish photographer Rhiannon Adam, British photographer Karim Illya, American film producer Brendan Hall and Indian actor Dev Joshi have been selected for the trip."

The team will travel around the moon for a total of six days aboard a Starship spacecraft being developed by SpaceX, Elon Musk's private space company. Maezawa also revealed that "he will bear all expenses for the space trip himself." 

Maezawa is the founder of Start Today, an e-commerce company and Zojotown, Japan's largest online shopping mall. He's infamous for being an "eccentric" entrepreneur and dubbed Japan's "Elon Musk."

In a video released by DearMoon, T.O.P states, "As a Korean citizen and an artist, I feel a great sense of pride and responsibility for being the first Korean civilian to go to the moon and represent my country. I want to offer help. I'm not afraid to go to the moon. I'm honored and humbled to have been selected for this experience. I want to go to space right away."
