New Jeans Danielle's "Chinese New Year" comments are causing further controversy in Korea.

Professor Seo Kyung-deok of Sungshin Women's University recently launched a campaign to mark 'Seollal' as 'Lunar New Year' globally instead of 'Chinese New Year.' Following Danielle's comments, Professor Seo pointed out on his SNS, "It's a pity that 'Lunar New Year' is marked as 'Chinese New Year' even in official stamps issued by the United Nations and global companies like Apple and Nike. Since Lunar New Year is celebrated by various Asian countries like Korea, Vietnam, and Philippines, it's only right that we change it to Lunar New Year. We must correct this to introduce the universal culture of Asia to the world and not like China's own."

However, Chinese netizens rushed to Professor Seo's SNS and launched indiscriminate attacks in the comments and leaked DMs writing, "Korea is now stealing Chinese New Years Day..," " "New Years Day was invented by the Chinese," and "Kill all Koreans.."

Meanwhile, Danielle has released an apology over her "Chinese New Year" comments.
