On the 8th, aespa held a press conference for their 3rd album 'My World' at the COEX Auditorium in Samsung-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The album, which was released after 10 month hiatus, contains a total of 6 songs and showcases the group's return to the "real world."
As of the 8th, 'My World' had a total of 1.8 million pre-orders breaking the group's own record for the previous mini album 'Girls' that sold pre-orders of 1.61 million copies.
Winter revealed her honest thoughts and stated, "I just now learned it's 1.8 million copies in pre-orders from here. I'm grateful that a lot of people liked 'Girls' and it's an honor that this album also achieved good results. We will work hard. Please look forward to it."
Regarding their hot popularity at home and abroad, Winter stated, "Our concept is unique so it seems that we are receiving a lot of love because of aespa's unique atmosphere. We will work hard to become an artist that suits and exceeds your expectations, so please look forward to it."
With regards to their dance song title 'Spicy' with an intense synth-bass sound and dynamic beat, Giselle stated, "It's a song that expresses the free-spirited charm and goes well with summer and aespa's new charm. The B-side songs are also good, so please give it a lot of love."
Karina also stated, "Honestly, when I heard this song a little while ago and decided on it as the title, I thought, 'It's really a 'Spicy' song right?' I listened to it once and it was a memorable song. Since it's summer, I thought it would fit well as a summer song so we decided to go with it. If the performance comes out well, it would be an even better fit for us so we decided to return to the real world with a summer vibe. I chose it because I thought it was a perfect song."
Ning Ning laughed and stated, "The point of the choreography is to put your little finger next to your mouth, like eating spicy food. We haven't decided the name of the choreo yet. It'd be great if reporters and fans could name it,"
As for 'Spicy' MV, Karina stated, "We've been mainly active in Kwangya and showed a warrior-like concept by defeating the Black Mamba in the metaverse but this time we tried to melt together the high-teen emotions of our age. We wanted to show a more young and free-spirited look by dressing the part. We were also satisfied with the MV because we filmed it while playing and having fun. If you look at the worldview, there is also abnormal phenomena. There are abnormal phenomena so those aspects were included as well. Last time, the concept was mainly about defeating the Black Mamba in Kwangya but this mini-album contains the story that begins after returning to the real world."
