It has been revealed that the late weather caster Oh Yo-anna attempted suicide twice before her death.
On the 31st, her bereaved family revealed on JTBCs 'Case Chief,' "She first attempted suicide on September 6th of last year and tried once more after that. She eventually died on September 15th. She confessed about the difficulties of her company life to her family before she died and received treatment and medication from around 10 psychiatric clinics."
"I received a call around 2 o'clock on September 6th. She was about to jump off Gayang Bridge when a passing grandmother grabbed her by the hair and pulled her down. When I asked her why she was trying to commit suicide, she said she was having a hard time at work. She said, 'My spine hurts, I'm in so much pain I feel like my intestines are going to burst. Living is so painful. I'd rather be comfortable.'
"At the time, I told her, 'this won't work'. With the family's consent, we'll have to get her hospitalized for six months. She said, 'I have to be on TV. I have a commercial contract so I have to film it. I'm not going to die. I just did it out of anger.'
"She said they had a katalk group chat at work where they'd nag her and say things like, 'You shameless b*tch, I told you to be careful with your clothes but you wouldn't listen to me, you really have no shame.' 'Let's not treat those guys like our juniors,' and 'You crazy b*tch, you came to the morning show smelling like alcohol and didn't bother to even shower?!'
"It was a complete twist. All of a sudden she was the 'crazy b*tch.' They'd say things like 'Omo, they're both crazy.' The atmosphere was like 'Queen of the Makeup Room' from Gag Concert."
A portion of Oh Yo-anna's diary written on July 16th of last year was also made public. Oh Yo-anna wrote, "I'm going crazy. A has such a violent tone. I have to wake up at 4 am (in the morning) to finish the special report at (omitted) at 10:45. I'm going crazy seriously, she gets so angry."
A is known to be an MBC weathercaster under suspicion of instigating workplace bullying.
Oh Yo-anna's family revealed, "we have filed a lawsuit for damages against A for workplace bullying. There were 4 perpetrators but for now we're doing it this way to make sure at least one person is held accountable."
Meanwhile, MBC has belatedly decided to launch an investigation to reveal the truth after announcing their position on the 31st. Attention is focused on whether MBC's "fact-finding" investigation will uncover the suspicions of workplace bullying.
Netizens are demanding an apology from weathercasters identified as the perpetrators on SNS.
