A security guard has committed suicide after repeated assault by a resident.
According to YTN report on the 10th, security guard A repeatedly suffered from threats and was beaten by a resident to the point where he broke his nose. The security guard left a suicide note stating that there was no way to resolve the injustice that began with a parking dispute at an apartment parking lot in northern Seoul.
According to CCTV footage, on April 21st, security guard A was seen pushing a double-parked vehicle to create a parking space and the resident B, appeared at the time, pointed his finger to A, said something and pushed him away. Resident B then grabbed A's shoulder, pushed him again and dragged him somewhere.
A neighbor revealed that this resident had disputes with other residents over parking many times and had violent tendencies. According to the neighbor, B had dragged the security guard to the management office and pressed the manager to fire A immediately.
But the bullying didn't end there. On May 3rd, the resident B went to the security office and beat up A to the point where he broke his nose. A's brother-in-law stated, "Even if he doesn't hit him every time on duty, he would come and swear at him and leave. He would ask why he was still working there and said he was going to bring 10 other people and bury him in secret. Residents even held an emergency meeting about the resident's overuse of power."
In his suicide note, A thanked his residents that helped him and his fellow coworker guards and apologized for causing trouble to the residents.
Police have charged resident B with assault and plan to investigate whether he was involved in A's death.
