Aespa's Winter is embroiled in animal abuse controversy.
Winter talked with fans through paid fan community Bubble and wrote, "I had 25 hamsters when I was in school. Obviously I started with two but these friends got along so well that they became 25. They were really cute when they were born but then a friend became sick so I decided to raise only one."
Netizens pointed out that hamsters are territorial animals and stated, "If there are other hamsters they get territorial, it's extremely stressful for them so cohabitation should be avoided. They're also extremely fertile so the young must be divided out and cared for in individual cages." Netizens also asked about "whereabouts of the remaining 24 hamsters."
Netizens showed anger stating, "Yes, she was a child at the time and might not have known about animals but it's uncomfortable watching her proudly say it like that? I don't think she's aware what she did was wrong."
As the 'hamster controversy' intensified, her previous comments on Bubble were also highlighted. Winter once wrote a message on Bubble and said, "The name of the lizard in our room is Poop but today Ning Ningi said she smelled so bad so we almost gave up raising her and cleaning her poop."

Winter was also previously engulfed in controversy over "animal abuse" after a video of her stroking a cat was shared. She kept shouting "No" and touching the cat's face with her fingers. She then quickly mimicked the cat's cry aloud and shocked the cat.
