Blackpink Jennie's drama 'The Idol' is continuing to cause controversy in Korea.

Following the premiere of its first episode on the 5th, viewers are criticizing the drama for using Jennie to satisfy male-centered sexual fantasies. There's also a rather furious reaction that Jennie's global popularity was abused as a means to promote her work. 

'The Idol' has also received a 9% out of 100% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a famous review site. Major foreign media outlets are also pointing out the drama's "misogynistic" descriptions. 

Because of these controversies, public opinion is growing that Jennie's appearance on the drama was a minus rather than a benefit. This is because Jennie, who has built up a sophisticated image as a global pop star, is not free from criticism that she was used as a means to increase topicality of the drama. 

Because of this, viewers are concerned that Jennie will only be used as a means to satisfy male sexual fantasies in upcoming episodes of 'The Idol.' 

That's why there are voices stating that we need to watch whether the characters in the drama, including Jennie's character Dyanne, take their place independently as the story develops.
