New Jeans is being investigated after indirect 'iPhone' PPL on stage.
On the 9th, an official from the National Guard told Ilgan Sports, "Complaints about New Jeans' indirect iPhone PPL are continuing. The issues discussed earlier this year are currently under review. As a result, it's difficult to determine whether or not New Jeans will immediately submit the contents for this deliberation. It's expected that it'll take a long time just to deliberate and review."
Previously on the 30th of last month, News Jeans held an Apple iPhone on stage at SBS 'Inkigayo.' The members freely used their iPhones and took pictures of themselves using the cameras. In particular, it was shown as a CF for mobile phone functions especially since the video taken by the members from their viewpoint was broadcast publicly. The members used the iPhones for quite a long time from 2 minutes 13 seconds to 2 minutes 30 seconds after the song started.
Afterwards, controversy arose with Koreans claiming societal harm after New Jeans did an indirect CF on stage during a music broadcast. As a result, with complaints continuing en masse, the Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) eventually began a deliberation and review.
New Jeans, who became an Apple model, also played a role in publicity by filming their 'ETA' music video with an iPhone that was further used in a TV commercial showing off the strong business relationship between Apple and New Jeans.
Meanwhile, the Censorship Committee will review various factors to include exposure time of the broadcast and whether or not they provided advance notice to decide whether to submit it for review.
