Famous Chinese film director Chang Kai and his family members have passed away from Covid19.
On the 16th, foreign Chinese media Xinhua News revealed that "Chang Kai, his parents, and his sister died of the Coronavirus." Hubei Film Studios, known for its directors, was officially informed that "Chang Kai died during pneumonia treatment."
According to Xinhua, Chang Kai's father was confirmed dead from the Corona on the 25th of last month. He went to the hospital after showing symptoms of infection, but died three days after returning home because they had no room at the hospital. Subsequently, Chang Kai's mother, who was caring for his father, died two days later.
Chang Kai reportedly felt sick and was admitted to the hospital on the 9th but didn't improve and eventually died on the 14th. His sister also died on the same day from the Corona.
In a note left before his death, Chang Kai expressed his sorrow that he and his family had not received proper treatment. He wrote, "I took my father to several hospitals but they all said they had no beds. The virus swallowed me and my wife. We've been to several hospitals but we couldn't get a bed and missed the timing of the treatment. We've reached the point where we can't do anything about it."
In the meantime, Chang Kai's wife is currently hospitalized from the corona and the son is reportedly studying in the U.K.
Chang Kai graduated from Wuhan University and produced the movie 'My Naruto' in 2012. The film was submitted to the Beijing International Film Festival in 2013 and won the top prize in the new film category.
