Judge Oh Deok Sik is under controversy for viewing the late Goo Hara's sex tape.
In the third trial that was held June 18th, 2019 at the Seoul Central District Court, Goo Hara's ex Choi Jung Bum underwent trial for intimidating Goo Hara to "film a sex tape". But Choi Jung Bum's lawyer argued that "Goo Hara had personally agreed to film the tape and even asked to remove her clothes on her own."
After hearing his words, Judge Oh told the prosecutor "that the contents of the video are important to determine whether threats or lack thereof were present in the tape and stated that the court will need to view the sex tape privately before a judgement can be made." Even though Goo Hara's lawyer strongly opposed Judge Oh's proposal, he didn't object to him confirming it. Judge Oh then instructed prosecutors to make sure the "video doesn't leak out."
But not everyone in the legal community agreed to Judge Oh's decision arguing that "he didn't need to personally check the video before he could make a ruling due to the nature of the video's contents."
Due to the growing controversy, a petition was posted on Blue House on March 27th demanding the resignation of Judge Oh. As of the 7th, the petition had been signed by over 446,000 people.

In the meantime, Choi Jung Bum's appeals trial will be held on May 21 at the Seoul Central District Court. Goo Hara's two hour testimony from the first trial will be admitted as evidence.
