A CNN reporter was arrested by police on live broadcast while reporting at a protest in Minneapolis.

In an exclusive report by CNN on the 29th, reporter Omar Jimenez, an 8 yr journalist, was arrested by police around 5:00am while reporting live on the protests in the area. The producer and camera reporters with him were also arrested. While cameras were rolling, Jimenez asked police why they were making the arrest and if they needed him and the camera crew to move to another location, but police  didn't respond only stating, "just following orders." 

As viewers watched, Jimenez was handcuffed on live broadcast and taken way from the protest site. Unlike Jimenez, another CNN reporter who was also on scene, a white journalist Josh Campbell was not arrested. Jimenez has a black mother and Colombian father.

Jimenez was later released from police custody after a call to Minnesota Governor by the CNN President. After his release, Jimenez told viewers, "my only consolation is the fact that you were able to see the racial discrimination with your own eyes because it happened live on TV."

Later, in a telephone interview, MN governor apologized for the arrest and stated, "I'm deeply sorry. The arrest is unacceptable."
