Gaseyeon YouTubers Kim Yong-ho, lawyer Kang Yong-seok and former MBC reporter Kim Se-eui have been arrested by police.

On the 7th, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station executed arrest warrants for Kim Yong-ho and Kang Yong-seok at their homes at 7:46 pm and 7:59 pm, respectively.

Police received arrest warrants from the court and searched their homes to enforce the warrant since morning, however, both of them had hidden out in the country for a long period of time refusing arrest. The police eventually forced open doors at their homes and caught both of them.

Kim Se-eui was caught attempting to flee his home while getting into the car at around 9:00am.

According to the police, they received 10 complaints about the 3 YouTubers that include cyber defamation and insults, including charges of defamation against the daughter of former Justice Minister Cho Kuk and the son of the Unification Minister Lee In-young

Gaseyeon announced the arrests through a live broadcast on YouTube at 10:30am and publicly opposed the warrants through a channel notice. Reporter Kim Se-eui stated, "The police are outside the door right now waiting to come in."

A police official stated, "Even though the suspects were asked to appear 10 times, they did not respond. So arrest warrants were issued and executions of the arrests were completed. We plan to proceed with the investigation according to procedures including investigating the suspects."

  1. [+1,979, -22] Wow, tearing apart doors at their homes to arrest Kim Se-eui, Kang Yong-seok and Kim Yong-ho because they raised suspicions about Jo Min and Lee In-young's son? They arrested them like that over a defamation charge? Even though there's no fear of them escaping or destruction of evidence???? Just because they didn't attend summons? ...daebak. This is why you shouldn't touch Moon Jae-in's people..
  2. [+1,534, -9] This is tyrannical power play in full view. This is the type of violence you'd only hear about Chinese communist party. How is this justice? All reporters should be afraid of being oppressed now. Usually if it's just a defamation charge, they'll issue a letter and visit to conduct investigations but they arrested them like they had committed some huge felony. The fact that they sent over 20 police to conduct the arrest is just..
  3. [+180, -2] Even violent criminals don't get this type of treatment when they're arrested. Is this really our country?? Are we sure this isn't China, not Korea? Is this real?
  4. [+111, -0] I watched the arrest video and police ripped off the door knobs and took them away. How are the wife and family supposed to sleep in a home without a door? It's terrifying to see police terrorize ordinary people with arrests like that...so scary. I got goosebumps watching that video. I didn't realize Korean police are merely slaves of the regime we have become.
  5. [+47, -2] I've really seen it all. The judge that issued the arrest warrant acquitted the MBC PD Notebook criminals in the mad cow disease case. He dismissed their arrest warrants saying it was because the was no fear of the vicious criminals escaping..
  6. [+40, -0] I just watched the arrest video and my heart is beating so fast and have yet to calm down. His elderly mother was there and they still broke down doors and arrested him like that...I wouldn't be surprised if she collapsed from a heart attack.
  7. [+11, -0] The conducted an emergency arrest with 20 police over a defamation chargeㅋㅋ. We're no longer safe in this countryㅋㅋ
